Game of Thrones ups the ante in season 8 episode 4 trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It's been a long time coming, but now, we're finally at the journey's end for GAME OF THRONES. In its eighth and final season, we've seen Jon Snow reunited with his sister Arya Stark, Snow bending the knee to his new queen and fiery flame Daenerys Targaryen, Theon Greyjoy once again sharing space with Sansa Stark, and in a very touching moment, Brienne of Tarth finally be rightfully knighted by Jaime Lannister. Jon Snow learns from Sam that his real name is Aemon Targaryen, thereby making him an official heir to the throne, and, in a twisted turn of events, he is also actually related to his beloved Queen Daenerys Targaryen (why is no one making a bigger deal out of the fact that Jon is literally sleeping with his Aunt!?), and now, we've survived the Battle of Winterfell. What else could possibly come next?

Oh, right, Cersei Lannister is still sitting pretty on the throne in King's Landing.

That's where the trailer begins for season 8 episode 4 of GAME OF THRONES, with Cersei Lannister looking out over her castle as her army readies itself to defend her, her new beau Euron Greyjoy at her side. At Winterfell, Daenerys proclaims to her comrades, "“We have won the great war, now we’ll win the last war. We’ll rip her out root and stem.”

Now that the Army of the Dead have been dealt with, Cersei is the only thing left standing in the way of Daenerys sitting on the iron throne. Well, her and Sansa Stark, if you want to get down to brass tacks about it (or Arya, in a perfect world, but something tells me she wouldn't want the honor anyway). The trailer also shows Dany drinking and celebrating with the survivors in the Winterfell common hall, and checking on her dragon Drogon. Arya is seen kissing Gendry, and two dragons are shown flying in the air, thereby suggesting that Rhaegal has indeed survived his fight against the Night King and the newly reanimated Viserion in episode 3. Ghost can be seen in a quick blink-and-you-miss-it moment, and the Targaryen fleet sets sail for what I can only assume is King's Landing. Euron Greyjoy gets down on one knee in front of Cersei, which means he's probably proposing marriage, but my guess is she'll still deny him until he wipes out her enemies completely. Here's hoping Yara wipes him out before he gets the chance.

GAME OF THRONES season 8 episode 4 airs on May 6, 2019. Who do you want to win the throne?
