Godzilla vs. Kong release date stomps back to November 2020

My sincere apologies, kaiju fans, as I have some rather disappointing news for you with regard to Adam Wingard's GODZILLA VS. KONG. It's recently been announced that the BLAIR WITCH helmer's highly-anticipated monster mash has been delayed eight months, and will now stomp into theaters on November 20, 2020.

Built as the fourth installment in Legendary's monster universe, the aforementioned film finds the King of Monsters and the King of Skull Island going toe-to-claw in a battle for super-sized monstrosity superiority. Named as a part of the GODZILLA VS. KONG cast are Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry.

The delay comes several months after Michael Dougherty's GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS disappointed at the box office with just $385 million earned worldwide against the film's $200 million production budget. Meanwhile, the other two films in the series – 2004's GODZILLA and 2017's KONG: SKULL ISLAND – roared a bit louder with $524 million and $566 million in global ticket sales, respectively.
