James Wan, The Conjuring, Horror

Everyone knows that James Wan and horror go together like peanut butter and jelly, so it shouldn't come as too much of a shock when I tell you that the mastermind behind THE CONJURING universe is set to helm another spooky cinematic treat before returning to Atlantis for an AQUAMAN sequel.

Variety has announced that Wan is poised to direct an original untitled secret horror project for New Line Cinema, which of course, has its plot details being kept under lock and key at this time. According to the report, Wan will co-write the script with Ingrid Bisu, and will produce via his Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear.

For the moment, plans are for Wan to shoot the film in the fall in Los Angeles, before he returns to the depths of the DCEU for an AQUAMAN sequel due to arrive in 2020.

In the past, Wan has teamed with New Line for his THE CONJURING universe, in addition to films like THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA and LIGHTS OUT. Wan is also producing a reboot of MORTAL KOMBAT, which has Simon McQuoid in the director's chair, with Greg Russo writing the screenplay and Joe Taslim set to star as Sub-Zero.
