Lizzy Caplan is your Number 1 Fan in the Castle Rock Season 2 teaser

In 1990 director Rob Reiner brought one of Stephen King's most chilling tales to life on the big screen with MISERY. Starring Kathy Bates and James Caan, MISERY told the story of Paul Sheldon, a famous author who after being rescued from a car crash by a fan of his novels, comes to realize that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and abuse. Upon its release, MISERY entranced and terrorized fans of King's classic story, and solidified Bates' unhinged Annie Wilkes as one of the most vicious characters to ever grace the silver screen.

Today Hulu brings us a teaser trailer for the sophomore season of J. J. Abrams and Stephen King's CASTLE ROCK. For those of you who've yet to check out the first (and fabulous) season of the show, CASTLE ROCK acts as a re-imagining of King's literary universe by combining the canon into one place where many of his most icnonic stories and characters live and breathe. The series takes place in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, which in the past has been the setting for such tales as CUJO, THE DEAD ZONE, STAND BY ME and THE BODY.

Here's the official synopsis for CASTLE ROCK Season 2:

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories (Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) are set in there. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that unites King's themes and worlds, and brings together the author's most iconic and beloved characters. In season two, a feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan), Stephen King's nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.

Starring alongside Caplan is Stephen King alum Tim Robbins (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION), with Elsie Fisher, Yusra Warsama, Barkhad Abdi and Matthew Alan also serving as members of the main cast. Robbins will play Reginald “Pop” Merrill in the series, who was introduced by King via his 1990 novella "The Sun Dog." As the head of King's legendary crim family, Pop is dying of cancer and must come to terms with his family. As the story continues, we find John "Ace" Merrill (Paul Sparks) taking over the family businesses while also disturbing the tranquility within Jerusalem's Lot.

CASTLE ROCK will return to Hulu for Season 2 on October 23rd.
