Mark Ruffalo emailed Rian Johnson about being in Star Wars Episode VIII

While STAR WARS EPISODE VII is still currently filming, it’s the next installment, STAR WARS EPISODE VIII that is gaining some attention today, namely from Mark Ruffalo. The director of Episode VIII, Rian Johnson, is being courted for a role in the movie by Ruffalo who he previously directed in his second feature THE BROTHERS BLOOM. He recently emailed the director congratulating him on the gig and took the time to throw his name out there if Rian was interested in casting him. Ruffalo told Collider at TIFF that they rekindled their relationship recently because he “desperately” wants to in on the next Star Wars adventure.

Ruffalo said his e-mail to Johnson read:

“Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.”

He’s got the right idea of asking now because the movie is tentatively going to be released in 2017. He said he would possibly consider a minor role depending on scheduling but reiterated that he would even do a CGI role. I wasn’t aware Ruffalo was a huge STAR WARS fan, and he seems pretty serious about all of this. I hope it works out creativity; Ruffalo is such a big talent I can’t image it being wasted if he cast.

Would you like to see Mark Ruffalo join the STAR WARS saga?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII arrived December 18, 2015.
