Back in August it was reported Warner Bros. was eyeing Matthew McConaughey to play villain Randall Flagg in their big screen version of Stephen King's THE STAND, however director Josh Boone later tweeted he has always wanted McConaughey to play Stu Redman, with Christian Bale as Flagg. Well now The Guardian has learned the actor is currently in talks to play "The Walkin' Dude" in Boone's adaptation of the King novel.

Boone recently told Kevin Smith he really wants A-list actors for the planned film, and he would definitely be getting one if Matthew McConaughey does end up joining the project. Although I do wonder if McConaughey will want to sign on for four THE STAND films, I think he'd be fantastic as Randall Flagg, and I have my fingers crossed The Guardian's report isn't BS. The site doesn't have any additional details on McConaughey possibly playing Flagg, but I'm sure just like last time, Boone will let us know if it isn't true.

Is there someone else you'd rather see play "The Dark Man" in Josh Boone's THE STAND?
