McTeigue’s Raven plot

The curiosity on THE RAVEN project being helmed by James McTeigue can now come to a rest, at least for those wondering about the plot.

McTeigue spoke to the folks over at ComingSoon/Shock Til You Drop about quoting “The Raven” nevermore, as the plot won’t be a literal interpretation of the short story.

“There’s basically a serial killer loose in 1850’s Baltimore and he’s using Poe’s stories as his methodology, so then he leaves clues at each murder and says it’s up to Poe to find him before he kills (again),” says McTeigue on his SE7EN-ish sounding plot.

Production should start sometime next year, and the director has been scouting Europe for some fitting locations, “There’s a European sensibility that could be cool. You could totally get into world creation where I can say, ‘This is my version of 1850’s Baltimore,’ because the Poe film is a fictionalized account, his last five days. It’s not real.”

There’s no casting yet for the film, but it’s got me interested. This could actually be something really great. I am more recent fan of Poe’s work. There was something about “House of Usher” that really did it for me, really f*cked up though.
