Milo Ventimiglia in talks to star in The Art of Racing in the Rain film

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As Hollywood continues to adapt damn-near every book on the shelves for the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively revealed that Milo Ventimiglia is in talks to star in THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN, based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein.

While Ventimiglia has only just entered the negotiation phase of the deal, the film is said to be helmed by Simon Curtis, who just last year directed GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN starring Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie.

Stein's novel centers on a family dog named Enzo who evaluates his life through the lessons learned by his human owner, a professional race-car driver named Denny Swift. From what vantage point the story will be presented has yet to be revealed, though it seems likely that a portion of the tale will be told from a canine point-of-view.

Neil Mortiz will produce along with Tania Landau and Patrick Dempsey, who was at one point in the film's development set to star.

If all goes according to plan, Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson on the NBC smash-hit THIS IS US, will be climbing into the driver's seat of Curtis' next directorial effort real soon. Buckle up.
