More concept art to remind us how bad Superman Lives would have been

SUPERMAN LIVES never happened and I think we can all be thankful for that. Just the very thought of Nicolas Cage as Superman is enough to give pause and now some more concept art from the failed production has leaked online proving this was one adaptation we’re happy never came to fruition.

This sketch represents what Superman would look like at the beginning of the film before his death at the hands of Doomsday. This represented their version of the “classic” Superman costume. Notice the Nic Cage receding hairline.

This is another sketch for Superman’s costume from the beginning of the film. This sketch actually went as far as the sculpting stage and a number of models were built on this design. Don’t ask why his abs are silver, I have no idea.

In the script, Lex Luthor blocks out the sun to drain Superman of his powers. After his death at the hands of Doomsday, Superman is resurrected by a Kryptonian robot named The Eradicator. The robot transforms itself into a suit for Superman to wear, essentially recharging his powers using what’s left of the Earth’s sunlight. This is what Superman wearing the Eradicator suit would’ve looked like.

Remember the test footage of the Superman costume that appeared online back in 2010? That’s based on this costume, the so-called “disco suit” that pulses with light as Superman slowly regains his powers. As for who that’s supposed to be wearing the suit, I have no idea but it somehow looks worse than Nic Cage.
