Lucifer, Season 5, Netflix

After being cancelled by Fox, the Vertigo-inspired series LUCIFER was plucked from the bowels of hell and given a new life on Netflix. Continuing the series allowed for Team Lucifer to capitalize on the show's eye-opening Season 3 finale, which found Lauren German's Detective Chloe Decker coming face-to-face with her partner, Lucifer's, true form. When word of the show's cancellation reached the masses, fans of the naughty but not gratuitous fantasy cop drama created the #SaveLucifer campaign. While Fox was reluctant to listen, it was Netflix who heard the prayers of the many and gave the show its fourth (and perhaps best) season. Once it became clear that fans were more than ready to binge the hell out of Netflix's multi-season content for the show, a 10-episode fifth and final season was ordered. Hallelujah!

As you know, some people say that you can never have enough of a good thing. It's with that outlook in mind that I bring you some heavenly news this good Friday. Are you ready? Netflix has announced that the final season of LUCIFER is to be extended by six episodes, thereby granting the series 16 chapters with which to deliver a devilishly clever finale for the fan-favorite series.

If you've yet to check LUCIFER out, I highly recommend that you do. The plot centers around Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), a fallen angel who went on to rule the depths of Hell before deciding to take a vacation in Los Angeles – The City of Angels. While continuing to party like the world is going to end, Lucifer soon teams with Detective Chloe Decker to solve a grizzly murder. As the two continue to find themselves drawn to one another by a seemingly benevolent force, Lucifer soon finds himself falling for the one woman in all of creation who is unaffected by his devilish charms.

Recently I was fortunate enough to engage in a fireside chat with LUCIFER executive producer and co-showrunner Joe Henderson about the show's fifth and final season, which you can listen to for yourself right here. For the interview, we also discuss Skyward, Henderson's sci-fi fantasy comic book series he co-created with artist Lee Garbett. Sony is in the process of developing a film based on the comic, which just came to a satisfying conclusion this Wednesday with the release of issue #15. Be sure to check it out!
