New details on Lex Luthor’s physical appearance in Batman v Superman

While many are still arguing and debating over the casting of Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, Jesse Eisenberg is still the most intriguing actor to discuss in Zack Snyder‘s ambitious superhero film. Eisenberg does not meet the physical characteristics we have come to associate with Superman’s nemesis and we have been hearing a lot of theories as to how he will be portrayed uniquely in the follow-up to MAN OF STEEL.

A couple of reports on shooting currently taking place for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE has yielded corroboration for previous theories as to how Lex Luthor will appear in the film as well as some new details about what hairstyle he will (or will not) be sporting in the movie. First up is this tidbit from Batman-News:

Eisenberg has “a lot of hair”. It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look — it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day.

That immediately made me think of his hairstyle in NOW YOU SEE ME. This obviously will upset long time fans of the bald Lex from every iteration of the character we have seen in comics, movies, television, and animation, but that does not mean he may not end up bald by the end of the film.

ComicBook.com supports the same details from their source while also indicating that the scenes being shot at the Google/Facebook-esque LexCorp office features Lx shooting a basketball and sinking the shot before turning to shake hands with a senator. The senator in question is said to be played by Holly Hunter, somewhat confirming her role in the film. Here are some more Lex details.

“[Lex is] a slimy businessman we can all despise. You are going to hate this guy. You are going to root for him to be punched by Supes when he weasels his way out of legal trouble. He is cocky and confident because he is THAT good at what he does. He’s a billionaire who knows he is more powerful than the Senator and Congressman visiting because he’s a billionaire.”

All in all, I am about as affected by this news as I was by the shifting of Perry White to a non-Caucasian actor and Jimmy Olsen becoming Jenny Olsen. In the end, times change and shifts like this do not disrupt or ruin the film, at least for me. As long as Lex is an evil motherf*cker and a worthy opponent to Superman, I am all in.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
