Parnassus resumes

Misfortune prone filmmaker Terry Gilliam somehow finally got a small taste of some good karma, even after one of the most extreme cases of foul luck (i.e., the sudden demise of an A-list star during principal photography).

But his new fantasy film THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR. PARNASSUS is soldiering on despite such a tragedy. As was previously rumored, actors Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law are all stepping in for their fallen comrade to play “versions” of the late Heath Ledger’s character. The producers statement: “Since the format of the story allows for the preservation of his entire performance, at no point will Heath’s work be modified or altered through the use of digital technology. Each of the parts played by Johnny, Colin and Jude is representative of the many aspects of the character that Heath was playing.

Filming has restarted in Vancouver on the project, which also stars Christopher Plummer, Verne Troyer, Andrew Garfield, Lily Cole and Tom Waits. The story follows a man who encounters a strange traveling theater company and visits parallel worlds through a magic mirror.
