Redditor has his online post picked up by WB for film deal

I’ll bet with all the comments and writings you’ve left on the internet, you never thought that your ramblings would become a movie. And who would think that? It’s insane. Yet it actually happened.

James Erwin, who has no screenwriting credits to his name, began posting about a month ago to a Reddit thread that began with the question, “Could I destroy the entire Roman Empire during the reign of Augustus if I traveled back in time with a modern U.S. Marine infantry battalion or MEU?”

His elaborate answer was discovered by a movie producer who brought it to Warner Bros. who picked up the pitch, titled ROME, SWEET ROME, and has a film project now set up with Gianni Nunnari (IMMORTALS) producing. This just happened.

As the thread title suggests, ROME, SWEET ROME follows a group of Marines flung back into ancient Rome and their attempts to stop an evil villain without changing the course of history.

So next time you’re just leaving comments about how horrible Mike Sampson is and how much better JoBlo.com would be without him, remember that a movie producer could be reading and looking to turn your anti-Sampson rant into a movie. As long as they don’t cast David Schwimmer as me, I’m cool with it!
