Can a non-fiction concept really translate well into a fiction feature-film? I mean honestly, how many incredible things have you seen happen and thought it would’ve been just unbelievable and lame had it been scripted?
Julia Roberts and her production outfit Red Om have acquired the non-fiction book IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD by Peter Lovenheim. The author chronicled his attempt to bond with his suburb by asking his neighbors if he can come for a sleepover. Have Julia do that for real and you got something I want filmed in my town (…) but put Jim Carrey in there and you got THE CABLE GUY 2: RESTRAINING ORDER.
Unknown yet if Roberts intends to develop the project for herself, but it would be nice to see a bit more or her on screen.
