The words “David O. Russell” and “romantic comedy” go together like “Adolf Hitler” and “baby showers”. However Russell, known more for his existential epics than his date flicks, is set to direct AARON AND SARAH, a romcom for Fox 2000 produced by Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, the team behind MILK.
The film will center around a dweeb and a hottie who meet as freshmen and, over the course of high school befriend one another and eventually fall in love. Russell has a somewhat shaky reputation in Hollywood after his alleged physical confrontation with George Clooney on the set of THREE KINGS and his now infamous battle with Lilly Tomlin on the set of I HEART HUCKABEES. For the sake of Zac Effron and Vanessa Hudgens (who I secretly hope get cast in this film), I hope they don’t mind being called “cunts”.
