This has been a good month for Sharlto Copley.

First, he lands the role of the villain in Spike Lee’s OLDBOY remake, then he gets the lead in Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s OPEN GRAVE. Now it looks like he may have nabbed another good role.

Copley is in talks to play King Stephan opposite Angelina Jolie in MALEFICENT. The film, “tells the backstory of Sleeping Beauty and why the evil fairy (played by Jolie) cursed Princess Aurora in the first place.” I can see Copley play opposite Jolie. I get this whole “King Richard from Disney’s ROBIN HOOD” image stuck in my head, minus the thumb sucking.

MALEFICENT is due to release March 14, 2014.
