Spyglass Media teaming with James Wan’s Atomic Monster for Knight Rider film

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines and prepare to enter Super Pursuit Mode because Spyglass Media Group, Atomic Monster's James Wan, and Michael Clear are revving up to develop a film based on the 1980s classic action series, Knight Rider.

Created by Glen A. Larson, Knight Rider burned rubber on NBC from 1982-1986 and is responsible in many ways for launching David Hasselhoff's career. The show brought audience members on a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist, Michael Knight (the Hoff), a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the powerless, and the helpless in a world of criminals who operate above the law. While righting wrongs for those without the means to fight back, Michael Knight fights crime while piloting a smart-car named KITT. In time, the series became so popular that it paved the way for TV spinoffs, films, video games, as well as a Knight Rider convention called KnightCon.

TJ Fixman, a former video game writer, will pen the KNIGHT RIDER film script, which is rumored to be a contemporary take on the premise, and will focus on a rebellious Michael Knight and his revolutionary vehicle making waves for the establishment.

Previously, Fixman wrote and developed Ratchet and Clank, one of my favorite video games of all time, as well as Resistance: Fall of Man. He's also sold a spoil of other scripts including One Night on the Hudson to Universal Studios, Brotherhood of Magic to MGM, and Men Who Kill to Fox with Greg Berlanti producing and Michael B. Jordan set to star. Recently, STX purchased Fixman's original pitch Rogue which has David S. Goyer's Phantom Four producing.

What say you, fine folks? Are you ready to get back behind the wheel with Michael Knight and KITT for Knight Rider reboot? Do you think the powers that be will have to hassle the Hoff into appearing in the film for a delightful cameo? Let us know if you're into this project in the comments section below.
