Starz places series order for Neil Gaiman’s American Gods

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Neil Gaiman fans have been teased previously with an American Gods series that was all set to hit HBO back in 2011 and while that plan fell through, it looks like Starz is stepping up the plate to deliver. They're giving a straight-to-series order for the contemporary fantasy novel, to be developed and written by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) and Michael Green (Kings), who will serve as the series' showrunner. Gaiman will also serve as executive producer to the series, and had some words of excitement to share with fans.

Neil Gaiman on finally starting an American Gods series:

I am thrilled, ‎scared, delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation. The team that is going to bring the world of American Gods to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie: I’m relieved and confident that my baby is in good hands. Now we finally move to the exciting business that fans have been doing for the last dozen years: casting our Shadow, our Wednesday, our Laura…

While I've yet to read the book on which the show is based, I've spoken with enough people who's excitement over a possible series has me convinced that this is one show to look out for. The book follows that of an ex-con who who partners up with a conman who turns out to be a god. Kinda like PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, except completely different. I'm in!

No premiere date has been set as of now, but you can bet we'll relay that info as soon as it hits.

I'm pretty confident this scene is American Gods. Wait, no, just PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES again.
