Big movies are released every week in the summer movie season, but that’s not going to stop Marvel from cranking the marketing machine to full blast. I think their big task will be to entice those completely unfamiliar with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. With TV spots generally being only 30 seconds long (at most), that’s a pretty tall order given the subject matter. Think they pull it off?

Obviously fanboys (myself included) are chomping at the bit for this movie, but I’m curious to see whether or not audiences will flock to this like they have THOR: THE DARK WORLD or CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. There’s a lot of super heroes and villains on the sidelines that I feel may get a shot if audiences are willing to accept something outside of the norm of “everyday man gets super power/suit and exacts justice”. We’ll know in about two months!

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will open August 1, 2014.
