The Witcher adds to cast as Netflix announces production start on season 2

Netflix's The Witcher is adding to its cast for season 2 and the news coincides with the start of production in the UK on one of the streamer's most popular series.

The seven new faces added to The Witcher are Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, and Mecia Simson as Francesca. The cast joins star Henry Cavill (MAN OF STEEL), who leads the series as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

Details on season 2 of The Witcher have been scarce but the season will once again consist of eight episodes and will be directed by Stephen Surjik (episodes one and two), Sarah O'Gorman (two and three), Ed Bazalgette (episodes five and eight) and Geeta V Patel (episodes six and seven). Fans also have a long wait in store because it also won't be available for your binging pleasure until an undetermined date in 2021.

The Witcher became an enourmous hit late last year for Netflix with 76 million households watching at least a few mintues of the show. Because of this, the streamer was able to declare it as the service's biggest first season for an original series ever. The show is based on the popular book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski and it explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia. Different points of time and formative events are explored that shape the characters before the series eventually merges into a single timeline.
