Tom Hiddleston drops some hints regarding Loki’s Disney+ series

Loki, Disney+, Tom Hiddleston

Although Loki (Tom Hiddleston) met his end at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, the trickster was able to return for a surprising scene in AVENGERS: ENDGAME which helped to set up the events of the upcoming Loki TV series on Disney+.

With the series not expected to drop until spring of 2021, we're still a ways off from the grand return of Loki, but Tom Hiddleston spoke with MTV News while doing publicity for his upcoming Broadway debut in Betrayal recently, and the actor dropped a few hints about the series. Hiddleston confirmed that Loki will consist of six-episodes and that showrunner Michael Waldron (Rick & Morty) will be bringing some comedy to the series. The Loki we'll be following in the series will be the 2012 incarnation of the character, who hasn't yet been redeemed, with Hiddleston noting, "That's where he starts."

I feel like I know [Loki], I’ve been playing him for 10 years now, and that’s crazy to me. By the time it’s out, I’ll be 40, and when I was cast, I was 29, which is a great chunk of my life… but the point is that there’s a sense of "I know this character now, I feel the audience knows him." Playing him, and playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges, which then have to change him in different ways, is the most exciting aspect of it. You have his specific gifts, his intelligence, his treachery, his mischief, his magic, and then seeing him come up against more formidable opponents the like of which he has never seen or known. I wish I could tell you what happens, but I can’t.

I'm certainly excited to see what sort of story is planned for Loki, especially as our first look at the series earlier this summer put the character in the mid-1970s. Time-traveling Loki? I'm down. As we know, Loki isn't the only series for Disney+ which Marvel is developing, as they're also working on WandaVision starring Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen, The Falcon and the Winter Solider with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Hawkeye with Jeremy Renner, as well as What If…, an animated series which will examine key moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and give them a twist.
