Tom Rothman has some strong words for critics of Paul Feig's Ghostbusters

Unless you've been living under a rock you're likely aware of the enormous amount of backlash that Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS has been receiving since day one. While some people have legitimate concerns that have to do with the remaking of a film they love, others seem to be going out of their way to simply hurl awful sexist insults at everyone involved. Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman spoke at the Paley International Council in New York and he had some strong words for the people who've been bashing the film.

Everybody says we're making the female Ghostbusters, but I say, 'No, we're making the funny Ghostbusters.' Yes, it happens to be four women, It's original. You get pissing and moaning on the Internet — sexist comments – but, you know, f— 'em. Do it or die, because the audience is diverse. I got the old Jewish guys covered.

This isn't the first time that someone involved with the production of GHOSTBUSTERS has told people to f**k off, Paul Feig told one rather angry GHOSTBUSTERS fan to "go f**k yourself" several months ago. As we've yet to have seen any footage from the film, nor have a clear understanding of what it's all about (beyond ghostbusting I assume), I'd imagine that Paul Feig and company are hoping that the outspoken critics would just take a step back and wait to see what he's got in store for us, but it's clear everyone involved is getting a little fed up. It's entirely possible that we've got a fun entry in the GHOSTBUSTERS franchise to look forward to, but even if it falls short, it's not the end of the world, just speak with your wallet and go watch the original instead.

GHOSTBUSTERS is set for a July 22, 2016 release.
