True Detective debuts its Season 2 teaser trailer; show premieres June 21st

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In today's most excellent and kick-ass news, not only do we have a teaser trailer showing us the first footage from the second season of True Detective, but we also have word that the show will premiere June 21st! That's less than 3 months out, so if you've yet to see the first season (not that you need to, but you should), then I suggest you get on it! Season 2 will focus on three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. The officers in question will be played by Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. Vince Vaughn will be playing the career criminal in what looks to be a breath of fresh air compared to the tame comedies he's been a part of lately. But enough of that, here's the teaser!

Anyone who's seen the first season of Nic Pizzolatto's True Detective can tell you that the hype is real, and the man has a great handle on writing fascinating characters for great actors to inhabit. While the vibe and casting of season 2 initially threw some folks off, I'm willing to bet this teaser will bring it right back home. Add to that the fact Justin Lin (FAST FIVE) is directing the first two episodes, and you have a show that may live up to it's stellar first season. Bring it, Pizzolatto!

Season 2 of True Detective will begin airing on June 21, 2015 on HBO.
