UPDATE: Angus responds! Two and a half men star Angus T. Jones causes controversy by stating the obvious

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

UPDATE: Well, as I prophecised, Angus T. Jones has broken his silence and issued an apologetic response to his YouTube remarks.  Thankfully, it’s a poised and respectable response.  It’s nice to know he hasn’t completely lost his mind.

Here’s Angus T. Jones response:

I have been the subject of much discussion, speculation and commentary over the past 24 hours. While I cannot address everything that has been said or right every misstatement or misunderstanding, there is one thing I want to make clear.

Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked over the past ten years and who have become an extension of my family.

Chuck Lorre, Peter Roth and many others at Warner Bros. and CBS are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date.  I thank them for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them.

I also want all of the crew and cast on our show to know how much I personally care for them and appreciate their support, guidance and love over the years.  I grew up around them and know that the time they spent with me was in many instances more than with their own families.  I learned life lessons from so many of them and will never forget how much positive impact they have had on my life.

I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.  I never intended that.

Some of you may watch Two and a Half Men.  That’s cool.  I don’t watch it and have no interest to, but it’s been around for a long time, so somebody is enjoying it.  I think the most I ever took note was a picture of Miley Cyrus who did a guest spot (spots?) on the show.  So, whatever.  But, one of the stars of the show, Angus T. Jones, who plays the .5 of the 2.5 men, is on a religious journey, which has prompted him to speak openly and publicly about his feelings toward the show, calling it “filth,” which seems to be kind of obvious.  He goes on to plead for people not to watch the show and says that his character on the program is “nothing.”

I certainly don’t have a hate-on for the show, I just don’t care about it.  I’m sure audiences get what they need out of it, even if it’s cheap, stupid humor, which is no more or less worse than Jersey Shore.  However, Jones’ comments are the kind that get you ousted from Hollywood and blacklisted from many venues.  It seems that the show is cursed with stars spitting vitriol at it, just like ol’ Tiger Blood himself, Charlie Sheen, when he left the show after being suspended for his lifestyle choices.

Of course, those $300,000 per episode paychecks will run out fast, especially if Mr. Jones gets roped into donating all his money to Internet evangelists.  I’m all for people exploiring their religion, but it’s a shame when it seems like they’re under a “spell” and not acting of their own accord.  Here’s my “prophetic” prediction: Jones will regret his words and likely apologize or explain them away at some point.

Skip to 7:37 to get the gist:

You can continue to watch Two and a Half Men on CBS, if you so desire.  Or, you could rearrange your sock drawer.  Or, stare at a wall for 22 minutes.  The choice is yours.

They grow up so fast, don’t they…?
