Before becoming the voice of Groot in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, Vin Diesel was approached for another project.
What was this project? All he said was “Fresh IP”. Fresh intellectual property? Would it have been a new character? At least that’s what I gather from my own definition of “Fresh IP”. The actor mentions that the film would have kicked off the Phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Well, don’t expect many hints in the video below:
As you can see, Diesel hesitates to even say that he is voicing Groot. Did he get in trouble for revealing his role too early? I find it funny that the outcries from fans about putting Diesel in a comic role lead to him getting one much quicker than was expected.
Would you have rather seen the actor in another role? His voice was terrific for THE IRON GIANT. Stay away, tears!
