It's good news any time an announcement is made to let us know that DOG SOLDIERS (pictured above) / THE DESCENT director Neil Marshall is taking the helm of a new movie. While we wait for the April 12, 2019 release date of his HELLBOY reboot to roll around, Marshall has already gotten a greenlight for his next film – a horror movie called THE RECKONING, which he'll be directing for MoviePass Films.

Written by Marshall, Edward Evers-Swindell, and actress Charlotte Kirk, who recently appeared in OCEAN'S 8, THE RECKONING tells a story set in England in 1665, a time of witch hunts and plague. Kirk will be starring in the film as

Evelyn Haverstock, a young widow who is haunted by the recent suicide of her husband and falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous landlord after she rejects his unwanted advances.

Kirk will also be serving as executive producer.

THE RECKONING will begin filming in Wales on January 15th.

This sounds like a fine project, but I'm still hoping BURST 3D, the movie Marshall was going to be directing with Sam Raimi producing, will get a greenlight one of these days… That was set up back in 2010, though. Things aren't looking good for that one.

So bring on HELLBOY and THE RECKONING.
