MTV loves genre films

While I consider the MTV Movie Awards to be trashy, irrelevant, and a complete waste of my time (I stopped watching that shit like 10 years ago), a lot of people must actually give a f*ck cause they keep havin’ them year after year. This year is no different, and the nominations are out. What’s the verdict? MTV loves TWILIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT, with TWILIGHT scoring more nominations than TDK, if that’s even possible!

Like I said, these are totally irrelevant, but horror movies got all kinds of love beyond the two headliners. Derek Mears got a nod as BEST VILLAIN for his role as Jason Voorhees in FRIDAY THE 13TH, as did Heath Ledger for his take as The Joker, and Johnathon Schaech for his portrayal of the killer in PROM NIGHT. Yes folks, PROM NIGHT and TDK nominated in the same category–the world is officially coming to an end.

Other nominated categories including BEST KISS, BEST FIGHT, and new this year… BEST WTF MOMENT. The nomination of PROM NIGHT for anything other than CRAPPIEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR is a WTF MOMENT in and of itself.

For a full listing of nominees, head THIS WAY, and get ready for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards on May 31st.
