MTV’s Scream series needs a great script if they want Wes Craven directing

When we first got wind of a SCREAM series being brought to life on the small screen by MTV it took a lot of people by surprise and it became a question as to how involved Wes Craven would actually be with the project. We heard whispers of Craven possibly directing the hour-long pilot and he actually confirmed today, thanks to twitter, that he was approached for the directing gig. It looks like he wont go near it unless they've got a solid script and I don't blame him.

Craven took to twitter recently and here's what he had to say:

A lot of you have asked about the Scream TV series. It’s true I’ve been approached. My response was, it would depend on the script… If they have a great script/concept, it could be fun. If not, not.

It would really be great to see Craven behind the camera on this so hopefully the writers have something really good brewing for MTV's upcoming series.
