Looks like my “only good for babes and
cheap beer” home town of Montreal, Canada is gonna get a “lift” movie
industry wise this year from THE MUMMY 3 (scheduled
for a July 11, 2008 release). And I quote
SneakPeak.ca:
“According to reports,
producers of the $100-million Universal feature “The Mummy 3″, will now shoot
the movie in Montreal, confirmed by Hans Fraikin, head of the Quebec Film and
Television Council. The film is scheduled to shoot at Cité du Cinéma studio,
directed by Rob Cohen.”
Other news that
surfaced: the film will sport (In the lead?) the character of growz up Alex
O Connell (the son of Rick & Evy from
Mummy Returns) while Mummy 3 screenwriter Alfred Gough stated that
this second sequel will not be set in Egypt.
Why does all
this scare the mummy out of me? New setting, new director, new “adult” hero, a new Mummy actor
(potentially played by Jet Li)… I get bad vibes for reasons
that only my shrink might understand.
Hopefully they’ll do one thing right and have Rachel Weisz
back in this one. Why? SCROLL DOWN!
