I’m sure some folks are going to roll their eyes at the announcement of Frankie Muniz’s addition to the cast of New Orleans based horror flick STAY ALIVE. But AGENT CODY BANKS aside, if you’ve ever watched MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE then you know the kid’s one hell of an actor and definitely has edge. Besides, everybody works better in The Big Easy!
Muniz will play, and you know I couldn’t make this up, computer nerd Swink Sylvania. The flick follows a group of young friends in New Orleans who reconnect for the funeral of a friend who died while playing a video game called “Stay Alive.” They discover that the murders are being acted out in real life by the spirit of a local legend that might have come through the game with murderous intentions.
Joining him in the cast are Samaire Armstrong who will play Abigail; and Jon Foster as the lead, Hutch, a handsome video gamer with a secret. Now admittedly the concept sounds kinda RING-like, but did I mention it’s in New Orleans! Seriously you must visit that city. And eat at Mother’s.
Heck, I love the bayou so much I’ll even restrain my cynical side about the genre prospects of a flick that has McG as one of the producers.
