Variety continues its streak of briefness (see earlier report HERE) with the report of a Columbia Pictures acquiring the flick MYTHICAL VETERINARIAN, from writer Andrew Kurtzman.
At least we have brief outline as to what this beast is about this time around. Check it: [MYTH VET] is about a modern-day veterinarian who’s recruited by a secret society that watches over the world’s mythological creatures.
Almost like HELLBOY of the veterinarian variety (that whole secret society watching over the world’s mythological creatures angle). Ok, cool man, I can dig it. Or wait, can I? Because here’s the kicker: Variety is reporting that the film is a comedy!
Yes, a comedy. Does it sound remotely like a comedy? Does it sound funny? Am I laughing at the synopsis? No, no, and no some more. Sounds like a light-hearted sci-fi / fantasy / horror, but definitely not a comedy. Weird.
If it ends up being a hardcore comedy as they’re making it out to be, then this will be the last time you hear about it here. However, if it appears to have more sci-fi / fantasy / horror elements to it, or more than they’re having us believe, well then… stick around for more updates on MYTHICAL VETERINARIAN as they surface!
