Another day, another remake, although this one might be unfamiliar to you. The flick in question is called JAR CITY, or MYRIN as it is known in its native Iceland, and it’s about a police detective whose investigation of a murder leads to the uncovering of secrets and corruption in a small Icelandic town, as well as an exploration of his own relationships. That’s a persuasive still from the original above…

Sounds like it might be in the INSOMNIA ballpark… Overture Films has bought the rights to the flick, and Michael Ross will be adapting the screenplay. Ross is also attached to the NEAR DARK remake, so this guy knows his remakes and we’re in good hands… Original director Baltasar Kormakur will serve as a producer.

Oh, and this version takes place in a small Louisiana town, where I’m sure we can expect lots of buried secrets and skeleton-stuffed closets…
