The remake madness continues. Warner Bros. has hired scribe Travis Beacham to pen a re-do of CLASH OF THE TITANS. I can only hope that it will languish in development hell just like the version that John Glenn and Travis Adam Wright turned in around 2002.
There are so many different reasons this remake is destined to fail that I’m not going to go into them. Instead, let me say this directly to Warner Bros – This is an iconic movie. Why can’t you leave it the f*ck alone! There have got to be about a billion greek myths to choose from where you could show some f*cking creativity and not trample on the memory of a classic!
I don’t just say this because I had my first ménage à mois to the image of Judi Bowker as Andromeda getting out of the bath. I’m well and truly disgusted by the clear disregard that Hollywood shows for its own history. We can only vote with our wallets, but how low does the Tinseltown self-exteem have to be that they consistently think the only safe bets are tired retreads of classic material.
Aren’t there any studio execs left who love movies? I’m starting to doubt it. Mark my words, we will see a remake of CASABLANCA at this rate within the next ten years.
