Neill’s a Daybreaker

JoBloJoBlo

He did okay when facing dinosaurs, so vampires should be a snap, huh? Sam Neill is dealing with bloodsuckers in the futuristic horror flick DAYBREAKERS, the follow-up from UNDEAD filmmakers Peter and Michael Spierig.

The Lionsgate flick is set a decade from now, and vampires have become the dominant species on the planet but find their food (meaning we mere humans) in short supply, which leads to bloodlust and famine. Ethan Hawke plays a researcher trying to find a solution to the plasma problem.

The film will apparently take a more realistic approach to the genre than UNDEAD’s loopy splatstick, so we’ll see if the Spierigs can do serious material as well as black humor.
