Another Emmy Award ceremony is in the books and the poor of streaming was completely evident as Netflix led the night with a staggering 44 wins. The streamer had already won 10 awards at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies last weekend and then took home another 34 awards last night.
HBO/HBO Max came in second with 19 wins, with ten of them coming during last night’s festivities while Disney+ and Apple TV+ followed with 14 and 10 awards, respectively. NBC represented network TV with eight wins but most of those came from the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony as the network only took home one award last night.
Netflix’s The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit were the clear winners of the night as they co-led the winners pack with 11 wins each. Netflix also earned its first-ever series award with the victory of The Crown. NBC’s Saturday Night Live followed with eight wins, including the Best Comedy Sketch series. Representing for Apple TV+ was Ted Lasso with a total of seven wins as it has become the clear face of Apple’s streaming lineup.
