Fans of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER may be in for an ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT style treat as Netflix is considering a 10 episode prequel series that would reunite the cast of the David Wain and Michael Showalter cult classic comedy. Variety reports that Netflix is denying the rumored series, but sources say it is in talks.

WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER was released in 2001 and has since become a fan favorite thanks to the hilarious cast that includes Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poeher, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, and Joe Lo Truglio. Sources say that like ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER series would shoot the stars separately and edit them together as needed. While that technique worked somewhat for ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, it could be the only way to reunite the massive cast that now includes some big stars involved in other projects.

With all of the cast members now over ten years older, the prospect of them playing characters younger than they originally played them could be quite funny. This would definitely be a series for a very select group of fans, so I hope Netflix is serious about making it happen.
