Netflix & Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass announces killer cast

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and DOCTOR SLEEP director Mike Flanagan's new seven-episode Netflix horror series MIDNIGHT MASS is in the works. And today we have word that the series has cast Kate Siegel (THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE), Zach Gilford (THE PURGE: ANARCHY), and Hamish Linklater (LEGION) as its leads with production beginning this spring in Vancouver.

While character names and descriptions have not been revealed, we do know that on top of Siegel, the series will also feature THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE alumni Henry Thomas, Annabeth Gish, and Robert Longstreet along with DOCTOR SLEEP and STARRY EYES star Alex Essoe.

MIDNIGHT MASS will follow an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest. Flanagan said this about the series back in August:

It’s a limited series [currently set for seven episodes], but it might end up being more than that; I don’t know yet. Midnight Mass is kind of my baby; I’ve been working on that for six years. I started writing it while Oculus was in preproduction, and it’s a very personal, scary little story. For years, I’ve sat on it and waited for the right moment; for a while I was like, ‘No one’s going to make Midnight Mass, no one will let me do it,’ and now they’ll let me do it, so I’m going to go do it while I can!

Rounding out the cast will be Michael Trucco (HUNTER KILLER), Samantha Sloyan (GREY’S ANATOMY), Rahul Abburi (KILLER RANSOM), Crystal Balint (SHUT IN), Matt Biedel (ALTERED CARBON), Rahul Kohli (SUPERGIRL), Kristin Lehman (BLEEDERS), Igby Rigney, and Annarah Shephard.
