Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer sequel begins filming with full film cast

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After 14 years, the world will finally be a better place as Netflix is officially going ahead with the sequel series to WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. To make things even better, the entire cast will be returning with filming beginning this week.

In case you aren’t familiar with WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER’s awesome cast, it includes Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter and Kevin Sussman. Yeah, all of those actors are back for the sequel series. Michael Showalter and David Wain developed the Netflix series and Wain will direct.

Plot details have not been revealed, but rumors have suggested the film could be a prequel set before the 1981 timeframe of the movie. The movie gained a lot of humor with the 20 and 30 year old actors playing teenagers. Having them now in their 30s and 40s playing younger teens would be even funnier. WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER remains one of my favorite comedies of the last twenty years and I am very excited to see how this turns out.

WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER will likely debut sometime later this year.
