Neve Campbell will not have a cameo in The Craft reboot

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

THE CRAFT was a seminal part of young Damion's life, as seeing the film helped solidify my lifelong love of goths. So I've always been a bit apprehensive about the upcoming Blumhouse reboot, especially with how the alt/goth subculture has changed in the interim, and how important it was to my youth.

And it seems star Neve Campbell agrees, as during an interview with Collider about her possible involvement with SCREAM 5, she had this to say about the aforementioned reboot:

With the new Craft, we’ll see. For me, I didn’t really wanna be a part of it, but I think they’ve got a very interesting take, and I hope they get a chance to do something great. I think the timing might’ve been challenging with COVID, but hopefully they’ll be able to finish the film.

It's obviously not completely set in stone, but it seems pretty clear that she's not really interested in reprising a role or joining the cast in any capacity (such as a cameo as a teacher or mother). Doesn't mean she hates the new direction it's taking (though her "I think it's got a very interesting take" can either be sincere, or a PR move), but I can understand wanting to keep a distance.

Meanwhile, the reboot – directed by Zoe Lister-Jones – is similar to the original, and is about "a young girl starting at a new school who befriends three other girls and quickly becomes the fourth member of their clique. She soon learns that she somehow brings great power to the quartet.". Obviously, no official release date has been announced at this time, as Campbell mentioned Covid stopping the production. But we'll keep you updated!

But what do you guys think? Any other fans of THE CRAFT? If so, what do you think about the reboot? Either way, sound off below!
