New 007 Production blog highlights the London setting in Skyfall

JoBloJoBlo

A new 007 production blog for SKYFALL has gone online, this time focusing on using the setting of London in the film.  If you’re sick of London after the Olympics, well, too bad, because it looks like good ol’ Great Britain is getting the spotlight for the next Bond outing.  I think it’s quite fitting, as Bond IS a British agent and it’s cool to see him in and around his digs.  It gives the character a deeper sense of belonging and origin, whereas we oftentimes see him jetsetting all over the world.  Certainly there are more locations in SKYFALL than London, but having some action pieces set in the city is pretty cool.

Have a look:

Even though Craig says they weren’t trying to be “flag-waving” about London’s use, I don’t see anything wrong with that, personally.  One thing that is commonly ignored in the espionage genre is WHY these agents do what they do.  We could throw out that they do it simply because they’re good at it, but I see that as a cop out.  These agents (from Bourne to Mission:Impossible to Bond) work for the government of a specific country and I think having a sense of patriotism to that nation is a big part of who they are and why they do what they do.

Directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Ben Whishaw, and Albert Finney, SKYFALL infiltrates theaters on November 9, 2012.
