Currently spinning a web around the folks in Austin, Texas is Mike Mendez’s BIG ASS SPIDER!, which is about to make its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival. The film, which stars Greg Grunberg, Ray Wise and Lin Shaye, is a tongue-in-cheek monster mash with perhaps the perfect title. (Although SPIDERS 3D sounded pretty good too, and look how that turned out…)

Today brings us a bloody clip from the film – well, perhaps “bloody” isn’t the word; more like “gooey.” Either way, an unlucky homeless man’s encounter with a venomous spider results in a liquidy demise which will delight you gorehounds.

A 50 foot tall alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles. When a massive military strike fails, it is up to a team of scientists, soldiers, and one clever exterminator to kill the creature before the city is destroyed

BIG ASS SPIDER! premieres tonight at SXSW, then shows a couple more times. Hopefully soon after, we’ll get sprayed with some distribution news! In the meantime, you can crawl over HERE to see its official Facebook page.
