New, extended Aquaman trailer is mightier than the seven seas

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For years Aquaman had been the butt of too many jokes, his abilities mocked for having no use beyond helping sea turtles out of plastic bags or talking to whales about the protein power of krill. But no one is laughing now that Jason Momoa is rocking the seven seas, and the brand new, extended trailer for his solo movie, AQUAMAN, is mightier than anything the seas can conjure. Filled with long, sweeping action sequences, moments between Arthur Curry (Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard), and glimpses at Dolph Lundgren in sea clothing, this new preview will impress the naysayers and send the fans into fits of excitement-fueled shock.

As I said, we see WAY more of the action and characters in this trailer and get a fantastic sense of how director James Wan handled the action scenes and character dynamics. The movie looks bright and colorful, and we really get the Indiana Jones inspirations when the duo venture into an ancient site, hunting the trident Curry will eventually wield. If that all wasn’t epic enough, the trailer ends with a shot of Curry in his classic orange and green duds. Just take three deep breaths if you feel your hyperventilating.

Here is the plot synopsis:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.

AQUAMAN hits theaters December 21.
