The Brothers Strause had a promising start in the director’s spot when they went from doing special effects for movies like TERMINATOR 3 and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW to actually taking one on with ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM. Too bad for them, and for us, AVP: REQUIEM sucked donkey balls.
But that didn’t stop it from grossing more than $150M worldwide, so lucky for the Brothers Strause, they landed another directing gig with the apocalyptic horror flick SKYLINE, starring Brittany Daniel, Eric Balfour, Crystal Reed, Scottie Thompson, Donald Faison, David Zayas, Neil Hopkins, Kevin O’Donnell, and Phet Mahathongdy. In a nutshell, SKYLINE goes a bit like this:
After a late night party, a group of friends are awoken in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window. Like moths to a flame, the light source is drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into the air. They soon discover an otherwordly force is swallowing the entire human population off the face of the earth. Now our band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.
Awesome The boys at Bloody-D scored the first image from the film today (above), featuring… you guessed it! One dark and ominous skyline. The look of the film thus far is solid, and I can’t wait to check out the trailer to see if the something as one-note as “a bright light evaporates the planet” will work as an entire feature film. I hope it does.
