SAW 3D has me intrigued, I’ll give it that. I’m happy to see the series come to an end, because it’s long ago lost its relevance and effectiveness (although I thought part VI had its moments), but I can’t help but admit that, damn it all to hell, I want to know how it ends…
One character I’m particularly curious about is Sean Patrick Flannery’s Bobby Dagen. Dagen is a survivor of a Jigsaw trap, and evidently a crucial piece to this final puzzle. If you too are wondering about Dagen’s story, you need look no further than his Facebook page. Yes, the fictional character has his own Facebook page. (Mark Zuckerberg must be so proud.) Whether or not it was actually set up by Lionsgate is unknown (at least to me), but if it’s legit, then there’s some insight that can be found into Dagen under the “Bio” section:
Bobby’s life is a testament to survival and transformation. For decades, he was lost. No career. Little attachment to others. No meaningful relationships. He spent his time in bars, or in front of televisions, or wandering the city without any true purpose. The choices he did make were bad ones: selfish, egotistical, aggressive.
And then one day he opened his eyes and screamed. He was hanging from two chrome hooks, piercing through his flesh. Moments away from death.
It was a trap set by Jigsaw. A trap that had no compassion,
But the trap brought out from a Bobby a resolve. A resolve harder to bend than the gleaming metal which cut his body. It was a resolve to survive. He escaped the trap, and when he did, he was a new man.
At first, Bobby was consumed by trauma. The confrontation with a brutality that pure is hard to live with. But slowly it became clear to Bobby that this experience was a gift. The survival of his body meant nothing; the survival — and rebirth — of his soul meant everything. Not content simply to be alive, Bobby decided that his gift could be shared. Now, he has devoted his life to helping others experience the same incredible transformation that he experienced. He has carefully constructed a program based on the raw, brutal truths he learned.
He calls it the S.U.R.V.I.V.E. Program. And he is here to help all of us.
Or……….. is he?!?! We’ll find out on OCTOBER 29th, when SAW 3D is released.
Another Jigsaw victim, Gina Holden
