New Scream film gave cast members fake scripts to preserve ending!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Cinemablend recently talked with Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and producer William Sherak about their upcoming Scream sequel (currently titled…Scream, in the vein of the recent Halloween film). Of note, Sherak confirms that the film will indeed maintain the series' love of twists and turns:

I think the two things to remember for us. One is there are multiple versions of the draft out there and most of the cast don’t know if they have the right version or not. So we’ve been playing that game with them as well. And the fun of a Scream movie is that everyone is guilty until proven innocent, not the other way around. So the goal is to keep that going for as long as possible and have fun with it.

Meanwhile, there's no official plot synopsis, other than that old franchise favorites (including Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott) are returning with new faces to combat another string of murders perpetrated by killer (or killers) in (presumably) Ghostface masks. Like I said, not a lot to go on at the moment.

Either way, Scream (2022) will (also presumably) hit theaters January 14th, 2022.

So what do you guys think? Fans of the Scream franchise? If so, excited for a new sequel? Either way, sound off below!
