New Skyfall videoblog highlights the score by Thomas Newman

JoBloJoBlo

I must confess that I am a huge fan of composer Thomas Newman’s work.  From AMERICAN BEAUTY to ROAD TO PERDITION to THE GREEN MILE and beyond, the man is a lyrical genius.  He’s never been much of an action movie composer, but that didn’t stop me from getting jazzed to find out he was composing the score to James Bond’s latest adventure, SKYFALL.  Being a Sam Mendes mainstay, I’m happy to see the director-composer continue their collaborative relationship.

In this latest production videoblog from 007’s new film, we see Thomas Newman composing the classic Bond riff with some help from at least one band member that’s been around since the very first Bond film, DR. NO.

Have a listen:

The sountrack for the film will be released on November 6, 2012 (and can be preordered here), but while you wait, click here to listen to seven minutes of the score by Newman.

SKYFALL, the 23rd entry in the James Bond franchise, will open in IMAX theaters on November 8, 2012 and go wide on November 9, 2012.
