It seems like forever since we last updated you on THE DARK KNIGHT. And by forever, I mean a week in ‘TDK advertising terms.’ Well this drought is over and Warner Bros. are continuing their viral marketing centering on Mr. Harvey Dent.
As I’m sure you know, Harvey Dent has been touring the US with his Dentmobiles to give people the chance to support Harvey Dent in his run for district attorney. Well a few new sites have popped up, one dealing with the joking psychopath we’ve all grown to love.
First we have Concerned Citizens For A Better Gotham. It’s a site dedicated to trashing Harvey Dent and his reputation. The site shows a small video of a group of officers stating how Harvey Dent can’t be trusted and how Dent turned on his city. Joseph Candoloro, Esquire, who’s the founder of CCFABG, also has his own viral site. Not much over there though. I think it’s safe to assume Mr. Candoloro is somehow tied to the mob.
And here’s the good stuff. A few months ago various internet news scoopers received packages with Joker accessories including a cell phone. Well according to Hollywood Chicago, those phones have been ringing! Here’s what they’re saying:
“Hey clown, ready to get to work? (I replied “yes”.) Ok, good. You are 1 of 17 clowns still left in the game (remember, there were 22 phones initially) I have a letter for you. Here is your secret letter… are you ready for it? Your secret letter is “L” as in “Laugh”. Can you remember that? Good. Now get to work and tell all of your goons. We’ll be in touch soon.”
Apparently when the secret letters are deciphered, they point us towards the Clown Travel Agency. Groovy. An awesome looking suitcase (above) with an envelope titled Departure Date 4-01.
So what does this all mean?! AICN are reporting that they got a weird email titled ‘New Dark Knight Trailer 3’. Inside was a link to the Clown Travel Agency. Now the Joker hasn’t been the only one making phone calls. Harvey Dent has also dropped a call to all his supporters according to /Film, stating:
“Hello, this is Harvey Dent. Weeks ago, I asked for your support… Concerned Citizens For A Better Gotham have started a smear campaign against me. Their claims are absolutely untrue, and while their lies show just how nervous my campaign makes the criminals and the corrupt, their attacks can destroy our chances of taking Gotham back. So I ask you, help me unmask these forces behind this deceit; help me prove these charges false. Time is running out. Please go to ibelieveinharveydent.com and find out how you can fight back, stand up for what’s right, and reclaim our city. Thank you.”
I suggest everyone also head on over to IBelieveInHarveyDent.com. It’s been revamped and updated. The latest news bit has Dent denying all the claims of the CCFABG and states that Mr. Dent will be at a Townhall Meeting at the Gotham Community Center #12, Gainley at 3 PM on April 1st.
So there you have it. All THE DARK KNIGHT updates that’ve recently hit the web. My suspicion? The ‘departure date’ shown on the Clown Travel Agency site means a certain Clown Prince of Crime might be dropping in on a certain potential district attorney’s Townhall Meeting. Could the new trailer be hitting at 3 pm today? Who the hell knows, but we’ll keep you updated.
