I don’t usually copy headlines word for word in my articles, but I didn’t want to change a goddamn thing about this one.
While doing press for TRESPASS, a film where Cage plays a man terrorized by invaders in his mansion, he revealed that he’s experienced something similar in his own life, albeit not a scenario that many would make a movie about.
“It was two in the morning. I was living in Orange County at the time and was asleep with my wife. My two-year old at the time was in another room. I opened my eyes and there was a naked man wearing my leather jacket eating a Fudgesicle in front of my bed,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“I know it sounds funny … but it was horrifying.”
Yeah, it does sound hilarious, hence this amazing headline, but thinking about a mentally ill naked man in my bedroom as I slept is in fact the most chilling thing I’ve pondered all day.
Cage talked the man out of his house and didn’t press charges, and lived to channel that fear into TRESPASS where the assailants wield weapons instead of frozen treats.
