Nicolas Cage thriller Pay the Ghost gets September release

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

RLJ Entertainment has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to director Uli Edel's PAY THE GHOST, setting it for a September 23, 2015 release in theatres and on VOD.

Written by Dan Kay and starring Nicolas Cage and THE WALKING DEAD's Sarah Wayne Callies, PAY THE GHOST tells the following story:

One year after his young son disappeared during a Halloween carnival, Mike Cole is haunted by eerie images and terrifying messages he can’t explain. Together with his estranged wife, he will stop at nothing to unravel the mystery and find their son – and, in doing so, he unearths a legend that refuses to remain buried in the past.

RLJ Entertainment's Chief Acquisitions Officer Mark Ward promises that

"The intense action and scares in PAY THE GHOST will have audiences on the edge of their seats."

I enjoy taking in some Nicolas Cage insanity now and then, and the synopsis for this one has me intrigued. It's not clear how far into horror territory this thriller might lean, but I'm going to watch it in September and find out.
