Nicolas Cage to direct and star in Vengeance: A Love Story

If you're tired of Nicolas Cage bringing his usual brand of crazy to characters in bad movies, then perhaps this will rekindle your interest in the fearless actor. Deadline reports that after pre-production negotiations fell through with director Harold Becker (DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE, MERCURY RISING) on the upcoming VENGEANCE: A LOVE STORY, the film's star, Nicolas Cage, will be stepping in to helm the picture. This will mark his first directing gig since 2002's SONNY, which featured James Franco and Mena Suvari.

VENGEANCE: A LOVE STORY will follow a gulf war veteran who seeks (surprise) vengeance against those who assaulted a single mother. As of now, no other cast members have been announced, but I imagine we'll hear a few names in the near future. Cage has almost always made every role he plays entertaining, regardless of the overall film, so I'm curious to see if he's going to take a serious shot at this or if it's the type of film that's headed straight to Blu-ray/DVD. As of now, no announcement has been made regarding his hair style.

Any time is a good time to celebrate Nicolas Cage's acting antics!
